Fire Resistance Cable is designed to have the ability to withstand fire when a temperature of 750°C occurs and still be able to function by conducting a minimum current flow for approximately 3 hours.
What makes Fire Resistance Cable able to withstand fire is the presence of a layer that functions as a fire barrier placed after the conductor before insulation. Typically, the material used as a fire barrier is Mica Glass Tape. Other materials used to make the cable comply with the IEC 60331 or BS 6387 standards. FRC cables with the IEC 60331 standard must pass a test of resistance to a temperature of 750 degrees Celsius for 90 minutes, while BS 6387 must withstand a temperature of approximately 1000 degrees Celsius for 3 hours.
For FRC cables, Jembo Cable itself already uses the BS 6378 standard and has obtained certification from TUV PSB.
